It can be useful to understand the bigger picture of what a wound cover can provide, when suffering with an ulcer. NHS England has produced a short animated video, detailing the struggle of Betty, a fictional patient that gets a wound on her leg whilst out walking. The video shows the very different possible outcomes of her treatment.
There are 160 diabetes-related amputations per week across the UK, according to research by Diabetes UK. It is thought that as many as four out of five of those could be avoided with improved awareness and support. Diabetic foot ulcers precede more than 80% of amputations in people with diabetes and these can be treated if dealt with early on.

They host the annual BeneCare Conference and this year it took place at the Radisson Blu East Midlands hotel, on 17 -18th March. World Health Day is an annual global health awareness day celebrated on 7th April, to mark the foundation of the World Health Organisation. The WHO’s aim is simple “health for all” – to give people access to healthcare, without the risk of financial hardship. On this important day, we wanted to use the opportunity to draw attention to pressure ulcers and offer some advice on how to deal with them.
