Picture it. You’ve booked the hotel and the flights, the suitcases are packed (well, if you’re totally prepared, anyway…) and everybody’s got that feeling of excitement that can only come from a holiday abroad. And then… something goes wrong and you end causing yourself a nasty injury. Or, even worse, you get the call saying that your darling child has fallen out of a tree or hurt themselves playing sports.

There’s never a good time to pick up an injury, however minor it may be. The first thoughts that go from most of our heads when we feel a twinge, break, tear or sprain of how our bodies are going to fix themselves and get back to their best – and that’s before we even know what’s happened or how long it’s going to take.

Lindsey Gates from Emsworth is stuck in America with a broken leg after fracturing it in a hotel bathroom, while she was out on holiday at Disney World Resort in Florida.

Diabetes is a problem that’s growing fast. With childhood obesity rates growing and people’s lifestyles across the world changing dramatically, the numbers of people diagnosed with the condition has grown massively. It’s estimated that more than 3.5 million people in the UK have been diagnosed as diabetic, and there may be many more with the condition who don’t yet realise it. For those who already have it, though, it doesn’t have to be a life-ruining illness.

With half-term over, children are returning to school for the final stretch of the year, and with those all-important exams ahead the summer break couldn’t come soon enough! Having the kids around the house over the summer is a challenge for many parents, especially those with younger children – it’s not always easy to keep track of them, and a lack of supervision could lead to accidents. With it being Child Safety Week, it’s a good time to get some helpful advice to ensure your children stay fit, healthy and happy over the next few months.
