Have you heard of Legs Matter? It is a coalition of eight healthcare organisations that have come together to make sure that anyone with a lower limb or foot problem understands their condition and receives the urgent care and support they need. We love the work they’re doing and so do many others. The healthcare organisations involved include The College of Podiatry, The British Lymphology Society , Accelerate CIC and the Tissue Viability Society – to name a few!
As we approach the summer and the weather is improving, our kids are spending more time outside and enjoying the light evenings. And who can blame them? It’s great for children to get out and spend time with their friends in the summer months. But, inevitably, this means there are hazards around that could potentially cause an injury.

It can be useful to understand the bigger picture of what a wound cover can provide, when suffering with an ulcer. NHS England has produced a short animated video, detailing the struggle of Betty, a fictional patient that gets a wound on her leg whilst out walking. The video shows the very different possible outcomes of her treatment.
There are 160 diabetes-related amputations per week across the UK, according to research by Diabetes UK. It is thought that as many as four out of five of those could be avoided with improved awareness and support. Diabetic foot ulcers precede more than 80% of amputations in people with diabetes and these can be treated if dealt with early on.
