Broken Bones and Children
We all know children hurt themselves every now and again as they’re constantly on the move. Here at Thesis Technology we want to make a child’s recovery from a broken bone as easy as possible.
Whether it’s from an accident at the park, on the trampoline, at school on the playground or somewhere else, we can help make things that bit easier while you’re caring for your child during their time in a plaster cast.
You may already struggle enough getting your child in the bath, let alone if they have an injury and you’re afraid of getting their cast or dressing wet. But there’s no need to fret – the LimbO Waterproof Protector will allow your child to fully submerge their injured limb in the bath (or shower). You don’t need the added hassle of strip washing.
We advise that the LimbO is not used for swimming as this may dislodge the neoprene seal and allow water in. Child LimbOs are available for half arm, full arm, half leg and full leg injuries. The half arm LimbO seals above the elbow, the full arm seals just below the shoulder, the half leg seals above the knee and the full leg seals at the top of the leg.
Although kids love getting messy, it is important that the cast is kept clean. As we don’t think you should let your child’s injury stop you enjoying days out with them, we offer Sealskinz® socks which are outdoor protectors for children with half leg plaster casts. The sock can be used on the beach and on damp grass. However, as the cuff of the sock is not waterproof, it is important that the sock is not submerged. The sock is available in three sizes: age 3-5, 6-9 and 10-13. A customer said “A lifesaver for our holiday, best thing we took with us! It meant my 7 yr old could still enjoy the beach without getting his cast full of sand.”
We also provide the Outcast outdoor arm weather protector for children. The Porelle® hand mitt with a Velcro® adjustment strap can be used on either arm and protects the child’s fingers and the part of the cast on the lower arm. Like the Sealskinz® sock, the Outcast protector can be purchased in three sizes: age 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
Both the Sealskinz® sock and the Outcast protector also mean that your child doesn’t have to miss out on fun outdoor activities at school.
