Betty’s wound care story

It can be useful to understand the bigger picture of what a wound cover can provide, when suffering with an ulcer. NHS England has produced a short animated video, detailing the struggle of Betty, a fictional patient that gets a wound on her leg whilst out walking. The video shows the very different possible outcomes of her treatment.

In the first scenario, after a long time and various treatments that did not resolve the ulcer, Betty couldn’t bathe with her dressing and didn’t feel clean. This resulted in her not going out as much and feeling down. In the second scenario, after treating the ulcer, a nurse prescribed Betty with a wound cover so she could have a shower and keep as active as possible. This made a big difference to her recovery, as she could continue to socialise and be active.

The video is a great way of showing how vital it is for health practitioners to be aware of the benefits of wound covers and how beneficial they can be. At LimbO Waterproof Protectors, our ethos is all about improving quality of life for our customers.

The video is made by NHS Rightcare, a programme that helps ensure the best care is delivered as efficiently as possible, which is essential for patients as well as the NHS. Find out more about Rightcare here.
