It’s not often you are overwhelmed by someone’s passion and commitment to make a difference, but when we met Nick Wright that is exactly what happened. We met Nick at the supermarket whilst he was running a marathon. Yes, you read that correctly – as we were doing our weekly shop, he was running over 26 miles on a treadmill.
He was raising awareness, funds and sponsorship for Walkoncemore; an amazing charity which supports cutting edge research into a cure for spinal cord injury.
But why the treadmill you may ask? Well, this is the amazing bit: Nick is taking part in the Marathon Des Sables from 7th to the 17th of April which is widely regarded as the toughest footrace on Earth. He will be tackling over 250km of desert terrain in intense heat whilst carrying his entire kit on his back. He will have to deal with extreme heat, blisters, burns and fatigue as he pushes himself to his very limits to help Walkoncemore find a cure for a devastating condition that can affect anyone.
We found Nick’s dedication inspirational, which is why we’re sponsoring him on his mission across the Saharan sands as he completes 7 marathons in just 6 days.
